May 2011 News Letter

Kyo-Shin karate clubs Newsletter No. 9

I would like to start by congratulating all who graded in February 2010. A special well done goes to Eloise, who received the trophy, for "Best Grading" on the day. Well done!

In March, some of the seniors from the club attended a seminar held for Ken Shamrock. Again another enjoyable tutorial held by a great UFC legend.

Today, we have Mike Burnand a 8th Dan here, to teach a course to the seniors of the club. This will be followed, by a Dan grading, for myself.

The weekly block of classes for Kyo - Shin Junior/ Red rangers finished last week on Saturday 30th April, (my apologies for the Newsletter being late). The new block of classes will commence on 7th May (today) and finish on 16th July. Fees for students will therefore be £27.50 as this is an 11 week block of lessons.
(Could you please ensure all payment is received by next Saturday14th May, thank you).

July 2nd is the date for grading day, it will commence at 11am (Straight after class). Individuals, who are eligible, will be confirmed and appropriate fees communicated two weeks before hand. Keep practising and put lots of effort in to confirm that place!

Health & safety
Could you please ensure that if your child has verucus, on their feet that they wear trainer/ plimsolls for lessons, until they have been treated and cleared. This will ensure that it is not spread to other students within the class. Thank you.

Also I would just like to reiterate that it is important that children/adults who are sparring wear protective clothing. We do supply protective head guards for this but I do strongly advise anyone who is participating in sparring, that they wear groin guards, shin/instep pads and hand mitts. These are available to purchase, if you so wish from myself.

Costs are:
Groin guards £6 (Junior) £11 (seniors)
Shin/instep pads & mitts £16
Gum shields £5
