Kyo-Shin karate clubs Newsletter No. 8

Recently some of Senior Students attended a seminar held in Barnsley with the former UFC champion and hall of famer Chuck "Ice Man" Liddell. It was a great opportunity for these students to train with a talented fighter whose background includes Karate, Kick Boxing and Vale Tudo before competing in the UFC. Some came away star struck and in aur of his ability and dedication! Hopefully by the end of the year, should see the opportunity to train with another legend, Randy Couture, (who you may have seen in the recent Sly Stallone film "The Expendables"). He was three time UFC heavy weight champion and two time UFC light heavy weight Champion. Lastly on the 7th November some of the seniors are attending a "Farewell Tour" training course with the 10th Dan Sensei Kanazawa. Who I first trained under at the age of 10 all those years ago! He is the only karateka ever to have won the notorious "all Japan karate Championships" an incredible three times in a row.

The weekly block of classes for Kyo - Shin Junior/ Red rangers are due to finish this Saturday (16th October). The new block of classes will commence on 23rd October (next Saturday) and finish on 5th February 2011. Unfortunately the cost of hiring the hall at the Peter Paine has increased by over 45% and so I have no option but to pass on some of this increase. Therefore fees for these students will be £2.50 a lesson and as this is a 14 week block of lessons the cost will be £35.
(If you would like to ensure your child's place I will accept post dated cheques, dated 23rd October or cash for the above). Could you please ensure all payment is received by the beginning of class next Saturday the 23rd.

Senior Club fees will also be increasing to £3.50 per session from 1st November. Regrettably I have no other option than to increase these too, to keep the club viable. Anyone you may know who might want to come and join the Senior Club. Please have them get in touch for a free taster. All ages welcome over 12 years of age.

Please put October 30th in your diaries as this is grading day. It will commence at 11am (Straight after the class). There will be some students across all classes who will be invited to grade. Individuals, who are eligible, will be confirmed and appropriate fees communicated on 23rd October. Keep practising to ensure your place!

Lastly for your information there will be a two week break over Christmas/ New Year from training for the Club. Therefore the lessons on the 18th December's will be the last one of 2010 and we will return in the New Year on the 8th January.
